Upgrades to major intersection across Liverpool are progressing well, with work now complete at three locations.
State Member for Holsworthy, Melanie Gibbons MP said work has been underway since January this year to upgrade four major intersections across Liverpool to ease congestion and deliver more reliable travel times.
“Crews have been working hard on these upgrades since the start of this year and work is now complete at the intersections of Elizabeth Drive and Marsden Road as well as Hoxton Park and Whitford roads,” Ms Gibbons said.
“Thousands of vehicles travel through these intersections each day and this work has focussed on providing smoother and safer trips for motorists.”
Ms Gibbons said work is also complete on this upgrade of the busy intersection of Hoxton Park Road and Hume Highway.
“The intersection of Hoxton Park Road and Hume Highway carries around 98,000 vehicles each day,” Ms Gibbons said.
“Work was carried out to build an additional turning lane on Hume Highway to create more capacity for motorists and provide more reliable travel times.”
Ms Gibbons said work started in late September to make improvements to the last major intersection in the upgrade package.
“Crews are now upgrading the intersection of Hoxton Park and Joadja roads, with daily commuters expected to save almost three hours of travel time each year in the afternoon peak.
“Work involves building an additional right turn lane on Hoxton Park Road and signalising the left turn into Joadja Road to improve traffic flow.”
“The community and motorists are thanked for their ongoing patience while work is carried out.” Ms Gibbons said.
